SERDANG 3 Dec. - The use of non-controlling social media is seen as a threat to the preservation of Malay heritage and culture at present.


Chairman of the Islamic World Malay World, Tan Sri Mohd. Ali Mohd. Rustam said the negative elements brought together with social media were able to erode the Malay culture which was renowned for politeness and politeness since its inception.


"The flood of information resulting from the social media openness creates many confusion that contaminates the culture of a nation, especially the Malays.

"This is a big challenge for our young people because they have a role to defend Malay customs and traditions in this modern world," he said when opening the closing ceremony of the Malay Heritage Culture Program at the Faculty of Modern and Communication Languages, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM ) here today.

The two-day program is accompanied by some 600 UPM students from outside and within the country.
